Notification of Delegate Nominations to AFGE National Convention

For NBPC Local 2544
The American Federation of Government Employees will hold its National Convention in
Lake Buena Vista, Florida from June 20, 2022, to June 24, 2022. AFGE Local 2544 is
authorized 6 (six) delegates by virtue of elected office but may take additional delegates
as determined by its members.

On April 28, 2022, Local 2544 will hold a special membership meeting at 4:00pm at the Union Office located at 2185 West Magee Road
#125, Tucson, AZ 85742 to determine the following:
1. Will the local participate in the National AFGE Convention
2. Whether the local will: (a) authorize only its existing delegate(s) to cast the local’s full
membership strength at the National Convention; OR (b) elect delegates up to its full
complement, in addition to the existing delegates.
3. How many delegates will the Local fund to attend the Convention
4. Will votes be distributed proportionately among the delegates who attend and the
breakup of votes if an elected attendee cannot attend the convention.
If the local decides to authorize more than its existing delegates, nominations for
delegates will be accepted from the floor at the membership meeting.
Qualifications for office of delegate: Be a member in good standing of this local; be a
member for one year of an AFGE local, immediately preceding the closing of the nomination process; not be a member in any labor organization not affiliated with the
AFL-CIO; candidates shall not run for more than one office in the same local election;
Any member who has paid dues since April 1, 2021.
If there is to be more than the Delegates by virtue of office: A nomination of additional
delegates will occur on May 12, 2022. A second for a nomination is not required. Self-nominations are permissible. Nominations also may be made in writing, and must be
received by at Union office,

By no later than 5:55 pm on April 28, 2022
Candidates must accept nomination at the nomination meeting or, if not in attendance,
submit a written acceptance to Election Committee Chairman, to be received by close of
nominations. A lone letter of acceptance is a self-nomination. The member making the
nomination has the responsibility of informing the nominee of his or her nomination.
Placement on the ballot will be determined immediately following the nominations.
If an election is required, additional information regarding the election will be provided in
a separate notice which will be posted on all Union boards and social media to include
the Local 2544 website.
