Notification of Delegate Nominations to D12 Caucus

DISTRICT 12 DELEGATE NOMINATION NOTICE 

For NBPC Local 2544

 

Local 2544 has 6 (six) delegates by virtue of the office to which each was elected. The local is entitled to 10 (ten) delegates to participate in the AFGE District 12 Caucus May 16, 2020, 10:00 am, at the San Diego Mission Bay Resort, 1775 E. Mission Bay Dr, San Diego 92109

At the membership meeting on March 12, 2020 6:00 pm at the Local 2544 Union Office at 2185 West Magee Rd #125, Tucson AZ 85742, the day membership will be determining:

  1. If the local will participate in the AFGE District 12 Caucus
  2. Whether the local will: (a) authorize only its existing delegate(s) to cast the local’s full membership strength at the District Caucus; OR (b) elect delegates up to its full complement, in addition to the existing delegates.
  3. How many delegates will the Local fund to attend the Caucus
  4. Will votes be distributed proportionately among the delegates who attend and the break up of votes if an elected attendee can not attend the caucus.

If the local decides to authorize more than its existing delegates, nominations for delegates will be accepted from the floor at the membership meeting.

Qualifications for office of delegate: be a member in good standing of this local; be a member for one year of an AFGE local, immediately preceding the closing of the nomination process; not be a member in any labor organization not affiliated with the AFL-CIO; candidates shall not run for more than one office in the same local election; Any member who has paid dues since February 1, 2019. 

If more there is to be more than the Delegates by virtue of office. A nomination of additional delegates will occur on March 12, 2020.  A second for a nomination is not required. Self-nominations are permissible. Nominations also may be made in writing, and must be received by at Union office, Attn: Election Committee Chairman, 2185 West Magee Rd, Tucson AZ 85742-4328 no later than 5:55 pm on March 12, 2020

Candidates must accept nomination at the nomination meeting or, if not in attendance, submit a written acceptance to Election Committee Chairman, to be received by close of nominations. A lone letter of acceptance is a self-nomination. The member making the nomination has the responsibility of informing the nominee of his or her nomination. Placement on the ballot will be determined immediately following the nominations. 

If an election is required, additional information regarding the election will be provided in a separate notice which will be posted on all Union boards and social media to include the Local 2544 website.
